Refrigerant is the part of this job with rules attached. Where a system has lost charge, a leak trace and repair comes first — a regas without one is not legal, and a leaking system simply empties again. Afterwards we run the unit back up, re-measure the temperature split across the coil, confirm the condensate path is clear, issue any statutory F-Gas records and tell you honestly when it is next due a service.

The fan hums away and the room stays warm. Usually a failed start capacitor or contactor, a seized fan or compressor, or a system that has quietly lost refrigerant. That last one matters: low gas is a leak, not a consumable, so it gets traced and repaired rather than topped up.
